Description:

This thoroughly attractive piece of genuine Russian artistry was created by the talented Gryaznov from the village of Kholuy. It is always a pleasure to explore the artistry of a miniature painter that is passionate about their work. This is pure animated brilliance that is as intriguing as it is beautiful.
Here the artist has chosen to depict a scene from peasant life. The girls dressed in bright sarafans stroll in the forest picking berries. The handsome lad riding the mighty steed flirts with the girl depicted in the foreground. May be it's the beginning of a love story?!
The landscape is painted in different shades of green, whereas the characters are panted in reddish tones to attract the viewer's attention. Gold paint details the characters' costumes and the steed's harness.
The composition is thoroughly detailed. The characters are expressive and painted with subtle blending and natural expressions. Their clothes are painted with a wide array of shades, to create natural folds and draping. The same technique is used to paint the steed. The landscape is filled with different plant life including firs, trees, bushes, flowers and grass.
The box's lid and sides are decorated with beautiful gold and aluminum ornamentation. The box is made out of paper-mache made. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box is hinged and rests on a flat bottom. The artist has signed and titled ("Forest Berries") his work at the bottom of the composition. He has done the same on the lid's interior and added that this is an author original design.
