Description: This exquisite work has been painted by the talented Kholui artist R. Znamensky. It shows the view of the Moscow Kremlin from the banks of the Moscow River. Looking at it attentively we can notice such world famous buildings as (from left to right) the St. Basil's Cathedral, the Spasskaya Tower with its famous clock, the Belfry of Ivan the Terrible, the Archangel Cathedral, the Great Kremlin Palace, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and also some less renowned towers (the Nabatnaya Tower, the Moskvoretskaya Tower, the Petroskaya Tower, the first and the second Bezymyanaya Towers, the Tainitskaya Tower, the Blagoveshchenskaya Tower, the Vodovzvodnaya Tower) united by the red bricked walls, and also the fragments of another cathedrals and towers.
To paint the architecture the artist uses yellow, red, green, blue and violet tones. The river is painted with gold paints while the mixture of gold, blue, green, and aluminum paints are used to paint the sky. White paints are used to paint the snow that covers the architecture, the ground, the trees and bushes. Gold paint abundantly highlights the architecture. All of the spirit and energy associated with the Moscow Kremlin is fully represented. An exceptional view.
The box is constructed from paper-mache, with a hinge above the composition. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. Fine gold and aluminum beading frames the composition, while the sides of the box are decorated with beautiful gold and aluminum filigree designs. The box rests on a flat bottom. It is signed and titled by the artist.
