Description:

Andrey Bayov of Kholuy is the talented master responsible for the exceptional art work displayed here. Flawless drawing filled with the most tantalizing palette imagination can afford. An extremely clear compositional structure that identifies the master as a true professional.
The box features a scene from the tale of the Humpbacked Little Pony. In the left bottom corner we can see Ivan riding his faithful friend, the Humpbacked Little Pony. Ivan is charged by the old greedy tsar to fulfill different tasks. The Humpbacked Little Pony always helps him, and Ivan successfully does his work. Here the artist depicts how Ivan fulfills one of his errands. He must bring the ring of Tsar-Maiden, lost somewhere on the bottom of the ocean. The huge whale, whose back is covered with forests, meadows and villages. This huge monster will help Ivan to bring the ring of Tsar-Maiden, lost somewhere on the bottom of the ocean.
The depiction of this huge monster fills almost the whole space of the composition.
The colors create a jungle of variety. Oranges, blues, reds, greens and browns are beautiful combined here. The detail is enhanced in the scene with the use of gold and silver paints, which are used sparingly but add brightness and life. With the fine brush mastery, clear detail, and dynamic characters, it's easy to see why Bayov is such a popular artist!
The box is constructed from quality paper-mache. To decorate the piece, the artist frames the immediate edge of the composition with a rim of golden beads. He then uses a pattern of golden filigree which frames the outermost surface of the lid.. A gorgeous compliment. These identical patterns are used to decorate the sides of the piece.
The box has a hinge to the left of the portrait and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed, titled and dated (2002) by the artist.
