Description: This stunning composition featuring Church of Intercession was painted by Vladimir Kiseleov from the village of Kholui. His style and colours are very recognizable!
Near a town of Vladimir on the bank of the Nerl River stands a stone Church.
This Church is one of the oldest Churches that come off unhurt of time!It was built in 1165!
Looking at the box's sides and turning the piece in your hands, you can easily imagine that you are boating on the Nerl River. A happy Fisherman just hooked a large Pike and strugling with it.
The artist chose to dominate the composition with main colors. Bright gold paint abundantly details the architecture and the surrounding landscape.
This lacquer box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work.
The box is not hinged and the top is fasten on a base for ease of opening. The piece comes to rest on a flat bottom.
An inscription can be found written upon the lid's interior. It announces this piece as an author's original work, the title of the scene, the village name of Kholuy and the year of 2006 of which the piece was painted. The artist also wrote his name, the title, the village name of Kholui at the bottom of the composition.
