Description:

This splendid work is a creation of the famous Kholui artist, Vladimir Kiselyov. The box's lid depicts a beautiful view of the white-stoned Rostov Kremlin situated in the ancient Russian town of Rostov the Great. The white stoned cathedrals encircled by the massive defensive wall are lit by the cold moonlight in the darkness of a night. On the box sides the artist continues to paint picturesque views of Rostov the Great.
The most part of the depicted scenes is painted in dark blues to produce a sensation of a dark winter night whereas the architecture is drawn in light grey and white tones. Gold paint is used to paint the stars in the sky, to create a sparkle of the crosses and some other elements of the architecture.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The box's exterior is covered with black lacquer while the interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer. The exterior is decorated with elaborate gold ornaments accented with aluminum. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Kholui, the title (“Rostov the Great”), the year of 2005, and the confirmation that this work is Kiselyov's own original creation.
