This festive box painted on the New Year's theme is a creation of O. Feodorova from the village of Kholui. It shows Santa Clause giving presents to little children. A magic atmosphere of the depicted moment is achieved with the help of mother-of-pearl inlays that shine with bright greenish, pink, lilac, blue and yellow undertones and lustrous gold paint that is used to decorate the costumes of the characters and the cupolas of the cathedrals. Mother-of-pearl inlays, gold power and layer upon layer method of painting give the composition a three-dimensional effect.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The exterior is adorned with beautiful rich patterns painted in gold. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Kholui, and the title ("Christmas Meeting").
