This attractive box has been painted by Larisa Poturayko from the village of Kholui. It features a scene from the Russian fairy-tale "The Snowmaiden". Here we can see the Snowmaiden's meeting with her new parents, the childless couple.
The scene is painted in blue tones that Poturayko likes to use in her works. Gold and aluminum add various details throughout the scene.
The scene is framed with a gold line. The edges of the lid are adorned with intricate gold patterns. The sides of the box are decorated with complex gold and aluminum ornamentation.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The box's exterior covered with black lacquer, while its interior is covered with red lacquer. The lid is hinged from the top, and the box rests on four legs. This original author's work is signed and titled by the artist.
