Description: Sergey Dmitriyev of Kholui painted this large five-sided casket named "The Views of Golden-Domed Moscow". His art and his style are products of self evolution which he has worked very hard on during his life. He has made himself into a great artist by using his God-given talents to their fullest. It isn't surprising that his work gets better with every painting he completes. All of that makes Sergey Dmitriev obviously one the best Kholui's artists!
The box has four scenes around the body, and one scene on the lid's top. Each of them features the picturesque views of the Moscow Kremlin. On the front side of the box's body we can see the monument to Minin and Pozharsky, the St. Basil's Cathedral, the Spasskaya Tower and the white-stoned cathedrals of the Moscow Kremlin. The right side depicts the State Historical Museum, the red bricked wall with its towers and the cupolas of the Domestic Churches. The rear side shows the view of the Temple of Christ the Savior painted against the panorama of the Moscow Kremlin architectural ensemble. On the left side Dmitriev continues to depict the cathedrals of the Moscow Kremlin. On the lid he depicts the embankment of the Moskva River, the red-bricked wall, the Senate Building, the Belfry of Ivan the Great and the Archangel Cathedral.
The box's exterior is richly decorated with fine golden scrollwork accented with silver paint.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged at the top of the composition, and the box rests on four legs.
The work is signed with the artist's name, the village of Kholui, and the title "The Views of Golden-Domed Moscow" at the bottom of the scene painted on the lid. The artist has also added an inscription to the interior of the lid. Here, Dmitriyev again wrote his name, the title, Kholui, and added the year of 2007 of which the piece was finished and the fact that this is an author original design, and his flaring signature in gold.
