The box shows a scene from the story of "Ded Mazay and Hares" written by Nikolay Nekrasov. The palette is very diverse but green, blue and brown tones predominate here. Gold and aluminum paint is used throughout the scene with exceptional skill that brings to life the colors in the composition.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box's exterior is decorated with very beautiful gold patterns accented with aluminum. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition, and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the names of the artists, the year of 2009 and the village of Kholui.
