Description:

This large square box shows the life of fictional little men whose growth is less than grass stalks. Often the scenes of these compositions looks fantastic, this is the world of fairy tales. Of course, advanced collectors will see in these compositions variations of the works of a well-known artist from Mstera, Daniil Molodkin. But they are signed by another artist, and each artist makes his contribution to any hand-painted work.
The work is signed as "Gnomes" and show a beared man collecting "white"(porcini) mushrooms of huge size. On the right and left, among the flowers, we can see two elves with wings, as well as a couple of unusual birds.
The box was painted by a talented Kholui artist, Kapralova Galina.
Egg-tempera paint is the main medium used to paint this composition. The palette is based in yellow, blues and reds that make complementary combinations throughout the scene. Gold is used to highlight and detail the clothes of a Mushroomer and Elves.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The interior of the box is red, while the exterior is covered with back lacquer. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests flat. Golden ornaments frames the composition and wraps around the side of the box.
The work is signed with the artist name, the title "Gnomes" and village of Kholui at the bottom of a scene.
