This attractive gem inspires awe from all angles. The colors are dazzling and the details penetrating. Olga Filkina is the accomplished artist responsible for this masterful elegance. Her expertise and her passion for the craft is evident. A natural bouquet has been transferred from the imagination to the painted reality before you.
A large bouquet of wild flowers is central to the presentation. Three butterflies enjoy the aroma of this wonderful bouquet. All of this work is painted against a creamy, light olive background that isn't seen all that often. Each flower is created with its own personality. The petals consist of peach, tangerine, sky blue, mustard green and lavender. A delightful combination. The golden contouring within the central bouquet is really something special. Attention was paid to each significant detail so that the radiance shines everywhere.
Few boxes contain the intricate decoration as seen here. Each corner of the lid contains a section of the main bouquet. The central bouquet, as well as four small bouquets in the corners are encompassed by the black lacquer exterior and dozens of lace-like flowers, filigree configurations, and beadwork painted in lustrous gold and aluminum paints.
The sides of the box are decorated with the same skill as the rest of the piece. A blue band of egg-tempera paint decorated with flowers encompasses all four sides of the box. In the center of each side we see a flowered composition dominated by three yellow, red and blue daisies.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged and the box rests on four legs. At the bottom of the composition, just under the central bouquet the artist wrote in gold the title of the piece, "Inspiration", the village of Mstera, and her original signature.
