Description: This beautiful box was created in the village of Mstera. The author of this work-Strunina Olga- hasn't signed her work, leaving only initials.
The work is called "Bullfinches" (the name of red breasted birds), and features the girl looking through the window and observing the bullfinches sitting on a branch of the rowan tree. These red-breasted birds look very beautiful when they sit on the white snow. Many poets dedicated to them their verses. When summer comes the showy red breast of these birds disappears, and then the bullfinches look like ordinary birds.
The scene is painted in red, green and white tones against the gold background. This gold background extends on the lid's sides, while the sides of the box's body are decorated with elegant gold ornamentation. The square shape of the box suits perfectly to a chosen theme.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the composition. The box rests on a flat bottom. It is titled and dated (2006) in gold paints on the box's exterior bottom.
