This box has been created by Olga Presnyakova from the village of Mstera. It is called "At the Spring".
The scene painted on the box features the meeting of a girl and a shepherd lad at the Spring, where the shepherded sheeps come to drink water. In the background we can see several houses. The shepherd boy is playing on a flute.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The composition of the lid and the box's sides are decorated with complex gold patterns.
The box is not hinged and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title, and the village of Mstera.
