Pavel Mozhaev is a famous Mstera artist who painted a scene on this box. The work is called “The Vast Expanses Behind the Klyazma River”, and shows laborious peasants working in the field, and brave warriors who defend a medieval Russian town.
The scene is outlined with gold. The edges of the lid and the box's sides are adorned with intricate gold leafy patterns.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with Mstera, the title and the artist's name.
