Painted by the outstanding Mstera artist Tikhomirov Valentin, this unique in shape and style box depicts the traditional scene of a Russian troika. A couple sits in the elegant carriage pulling by three steeds painted in different tones, and a handsome hussar rides his steed in the opposite direction. All around them extends the beautiful summer landscape.
To the left and to the right from the scene the artist paints beautiful eastern patterns. To paint them he uses gold paints, and also blue, red and green tempera paints. The scene is framed with a gold line, while the edges of the lid are decorated with tiny gold beads.
The box is constructed from paper-mache made. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while a lively red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge has been fastened to the top of the composition and the box rests on a flat bottom.
