This beautiful box has been painted by the famous Mstera artist, Olga Strunina. It shows a young aristocrat presenting a flower to an elegant lady in the palace park. In this scene the artist has managed to express a romantic feeling of the bygone centuries and a special charm of Russian nobility.
The scene is painted in beautifully combined tempera paints. The costumes of some characters are detailed with gold paint. The edges of the lid are adorned with stylish floral patterns accented with red tempera paints.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the name of the artist, Mstera, and the year of 2007.
