This small, attractive box is a creation of Olga Strunina from the village of Mstera. In the center of the box's lid the artist has painted the basket filled with fresh ripe strawberries and encompassed this image with beautiful flowers, bees and butterflies. The composition is painted in soft tempera paints against the olive background. Each minute detail is richly enhanced in brilliant gold paint. The composition is framed with a simple gold pattern while the edges of the lid are adorned with more complex floral design also painted in gold.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's initials, Mstera, the title ("The Berry Summer") and the year of 2007 .
