This attractive piece was created by Nadezhda Anikina of Mstera. This artist really likes ornamental and floral compositions. Skill and obvious knowledge are all attributes found in her works.
The box is elegantly designed. In the center of the lid there is a bouquet of wild flowers painted against bright cream background. The flowers are painted in soft tempera paints and richly detailed with gold paints. This scene is framed with an intricate gold floral pattern. More complex patterns dominated by large beautiful lilies decorated corners of the lid. The artist does not limit himself to decorating only the lid. She creates equally intricate and charming floral decorations in gold paint around the sides of the box.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged, and the box rests on four round legs. The artist wrote in gold her name, Mstera, and the name of the work "Blue smoke" on the exterior of the base of the box.
