This interesting subject showing a mixture of different times was painted in the village of Mstera.
On the foreground we can a fellow boy driving two horses from a sleigh, while on the backgroud we can see two geologists drawn surrounded by planets symbolizing progress! In this case the title of the box-"Give us a ride, fellow boy, we'll get there more cheerfully..." is showing how progress in geological exploration, space exploration reaches small villages where people have until now used horses for transportation. Today it is exotic!
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the painting, and the box rests flat.
The box is signed with the name of the village of Mstera, title and the initials of the artist.
