Description:

This enchanting piece of authentic Russian artistry was composed by Mstera master Anatoliy Shirokov. His works exude harmony among color and design. Fairy tale animation that is extremely balanced. A handsome addition to any collection, refined beauty.
The artist has depicted several moments from the famous fairy-tale entitled "The tale of Tsar Saltan" written by A. Pushkin. The composition on the box's lid shows Prince Gvidon who embraces the Princess Swan and shows her the ship on the board of which his father is sailing. Tsar Saltan will see in this fairy island many wonders: the squirrel that all day long shells golden nuts, separating gold nutshells from emerald kernel of nuts, the thirty-three knights with their uncle old Chernomor, rising from the raging sea, and, certainly, he will be very surprised to meet there his beloved wife and son. The sides show the other moments of the story: Prince Gvidon kills the hawk with his arrow to defend the Princess Swan, Princess Swan turns into a beautiful lady, the tsar's servants try to catch the mosquito which is disguised Prince Gvidon, and the Tsar Saltan's ship approaching the magic island.
The palette chosen is a bouquet of soft colors that create a soothing representation of the tale. Pink, blue, turquoise, mustard, red, yellow tones form very beautiful color combinations. Gold paint is used in each composition, but in very subtle amounts that attract light and bring to life the colors that surround the gold.
The box is lavishly decorated on the sides. It is constructed out of high-grade paper-mache. The lid is hinged on top and the box stands on four feet. The exterior of the piece is painted with black lacquer and interior is painted with red lacquer. The work is signed with the artist's name, village, and title.
