This exceptional production was created by Mstera favorite Daniil Molodkin. It continues the artist's series of works showing fantastic creatures, living in a downsized grass world. These creatures, gnomes and dwarfs, have towns, villages, markets, shops, ports and libraries. They go to the cinema and restaurants, behaving just like people do. For instance, this scene shows a dwarf-fisherman, who have just caught a big pike. The scene is very bright and colorful. Blue and green tones dominate the composition. The application of gold and aluminum is very well done, and only enhances the flair of the box without overpowering the eye. The clothes of the gnome and the fish's body are expertly detailed. The masterfully painted landscape is filled with fantastic plants and insects.
This elegantly shaped box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid's composition and the sides of the box are decorated with beautiful gold and aluminum ornamentation. A hinge has been fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests on a small platform. The work is signed with the artist's name, village and title ("Fisherman").
