Description: This brilliant work has been created by N. Zaitseva from the village of Mstera. It is very bright and romantic. Two birds feed their nestlings surrounded with large multicolored blossoms. The lid of the box is made of an unbroken shell (unbroken mother-of-pearl) that is why the box repeats the shape of a shell. A shell is a perfect decorative material, and here we can see the evidence of this fact. This bright, vivid scene looks fantastically beautiful against the pearl background. The pearl background creates the depth of the scene, fills it with natural light and adds shimmering of tender pink, green and yellow tones. The interior of the lid is also left pearl, and decorated with the charming bunch of flowers. For additional decoration the artist details the scene painted on the lid with lustrous gold paints, and decorates the sides of the box with original plant designs painted in green tempera paints against the background of gold metal leaf. The legs on which the box rests are also adorned with beautiful gold filigree designs.
The base of the box is made of paper-mache; its interior and exterior is covered with bright red lacquer. The lid is hinged from the top. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title ("Enchanted World"), the village of Mstera and the year of 2005.
