Description: When Danila Molodkin was a child, he loved to read fantasy books, science fiction, and fairy tales. Maybe this childish hobby influences his works now. His another hobby was listening to rock music. His favorite rock group was "Aquarium", which is one of the most popular rock groups in the eighties in the Soviet Union. The lyrics of this group continues to inspire Danila to depict his original compositions.
The scene depicted here is based on the song "Gold City" or "Under the Blue Sky" performed by the leader of rock group "Aquarium", Boris Grebenshikov. This song is about the wondrous gold city lit up by the bright star shining in the blue sky. There is a splendid garden in this city where one can meet wonderful animals and birds: lions, wolves, eagles; along with fantastic herbs and plants. Only a man with an open, loving heart can penetrate into this garden.
The scene is painted in bright, bold tones. Green, red and yellow tones dominate here. Gold paint is used to highlight and accent the scene, especially in the foreground.
The scene is framed with a gold line. The edges of the lid are adorned with a gold and foliage pattern. The similar pattern only accented with aluminum and a little bigger in size wraps around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge has been fastened to the top of the composition, and the box sits on a flat bottom. The artist's name, the village of Mstera, the year of 2006 and the title ("Under the Blue Sky
