This magnificent box has been painted by Alexander Gaun from the village of Mstera.
Here the artist has chosen to depict the famous biblical subject of Jesus Christ's crucifixion. In the upper part of the composition Jesus Christ is crucified together with two criminals. Just under this scene Jesus Christ carries the cross he will be crucified on. The soldiers of Roman guard beat him with bludgeons. To the right from this scene the artist depicts the citizens of Galilee who gathered here to see the execution. In the right bottom corner Judas receives gold coins for his treachery. Just over this scene Pontiy Pilat symbolically washes his hands standing on the balcony.
The composition is set into an arch. To the left and right upper corners of the box separate quotations from the bible are written. "
