This colorful large box has been painted by the Mstera artist Antonina Medvedeva. Her highly original works are much in demand by collectors.
The box shows some scenes from Lewis Carroll's (1832-1898) classic tale "Through the Looking Glass".
In the center of the composition Medvedeva depicts the interior of Alice's house. Here we can see Alice, her cat Dinah with kittens, Alice's grandmother, the lady reading the tale "Through the Looking Glass", and the looking glass hanging on the wall over the fire place. Through this looking glass Alice penetrated into the magic chess land. From the left of this central scene we can see Alice speaking to Humpty Dumpty who looks like an ordinary egg; while from the right of the central scene the artist depicts the insects of the magic land: the giant bee that resembles an elephant, and the giant butterfly. Just under the scene showing insects we can see another inhabitants of the magic land
