This interesting work has been made by M. Malnova from the village of Mstera. It shows the humorous and unusual scene. The peasants stroll in the forest gathering mushrooms and berries. One of the male peasants sneaked up to the girl and embraced her. He did it so unexpectedly that the frightened girl started to scream. Gold paint details the costume of the screaming girl, some plants and also highlights the sky. The work has an unusual title “Au”. This word is used to hail people in the forest to avoid getting lost and to have an opportunity to find each other easily.
The scene is outlined with gold. The edges of the lid are adorned with gold beads. The box's sides, and each of its legs are decorated with rich and intricate gold and aluminum designs.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition. The box rests on four legs. It is signed and titled by the artist on the lid's interior in gold paints.
