This colorful and lovable piece by popular Mstera artist Daniil Molodkin continues his original theme depicting miniature people of a mythical world. Here the artist has painted the date of a dwarf with his lady-love. The characters ride the huge male and female dragons who also like each other.
The palette is based on the beautiful combinations of Daniil's favorite red, green and blue tones of tempera paints. Excellent detailing and gold highlighting provide flourish and texture to the scene.
The scene is outlined with gold. The sides of the box, and the edges of the lid are decorated with Molodkin's signature style gold leafy patterns (on the sides the gold leafy pattern is accented with alluminum while on the lid this pattern is simply gold)
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge has been fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The artist's name, the village of Mstera, and the title ("A Loving Couple") can be found at the bottom of the scene written in gold paint.
