Description: This box features some episodes from “The Tale of Princess Frog”. It has been created through the ingenious creativity of Viktor Kuznetsov of Mstera. Audiences feel as if they are within the story itself when they are in the presence of the artist's work.
In the left bottom corner we can see Ivan who has found his arrow near the frog that is now destined to be his wife. In the center of the composition the artist has painted Vasilisa the Wise and Clever who creates a miniature lake full of swans with just one nonchalant wave of her hand. The right part of the composition shows how various animals and fish helped Ivan to get Koshchey's death.
The palette is filled with an array of colors that do not come in conflict with each other. They play a singular roll in making a perfect harmony between the characters, the landscape, the architecture and the linear layout of the scene. Gold paint applied with a very fine brush is used to fill the composition with various details.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The exterior is decorated with very intricate gold ornaments. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on four rounded legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Mstera, the year of 2009 and the title.
