Description: Talented Dogadin Alexander of Mstera is the artist who painted this piece depicting the Pushkin's fairy tale "Ruslan and Lyudmila".The the central part of the composition we can see Ruslan on a horse The lower part of the composition shows the thrilling moment of the story when Ruslan finds the giant's head and the bloody battle starts. The left part of the composition features Chernomor kidnapping Lyudmila from a kingdom.
The scene is dominated by blue, yellow and orange tones. Gold paint is used to detail such elements as Ruslan's costume. The entire drawing is very well-drawn. The line movement, compositional structure, and brushwork combine to make this composition an aesthetic wonder.
Dogadin has then demonstrated his master hand and painted a unique and expert patterns around the composition. These patterns are painted with gold paints and accented with blue tempera paints. The sides of the box are decorated with bigger in size beautiful floral elements painted in gold and accented with blue tempera paints.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge above the composition and rests on a four legs. The artist wrote Mstera, the title, and his name at the bottom of the painting.
