This elegant brooch has been created by talented Palekh artist Lyubov Melnikova.
It shows an episode from “The Tale of Tsar Saltan”. Three sisters gossip among themselves as they spin wool. Each tells what she would do if she were to marry Tsar Saltan, the ruler of the kingdom, and available bachelor.
The scene is painted in bright red, orange and green tempera paints against the black background; the details are enhanced with gold paint. The edges of the lid are decorated with a nice gold design.
The exterior of the brooch is covered with black lacquer. The brooch has a metal pin. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Palekh.
