Vladimir Bogdanov (born in 1956) painted this splendid piece of Russian artistry. Its sides and lid show the scenes of modern Russian hunt. The hunters hunt after wild boars and hares in the forest (the front side), enjoy ice fishing (the right side), fish using motor boats (the left side), hunt for wolfs riding snowmobiles (the rear side), and have a snack near the bonfire after a successful hunt (the lid).
Various shades of green and blue tempera paints dominate here. Gold and silver paints are used to add minute details throughout the scenes. Gold and silver paints are also used to decorate the box's exterior with intricate floral and leafy ornaments.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Palekh, and the year of 2007.
