Description: This box has been created by A. Kutkin from the village of Palekh. It depicts the main character of the Russian fairy-tale “The Goldenhair Girl”. Blue, green, red and orange-brown tones of tempera paints predominate here. Gold and aluminum paint is used to strengthen various details throughout the scene.
The scene is framed with gold beads; gold beads can be also found wrapping around the bottom edge of the box's sides. The box's sides are decorated with an intricate, gold foliage pattern.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2004 and the village of Palekh.
