This unique example of Palekh artistry was created by Kuznetsova. Here she has painted a scene from the magical story of, "The Snowmaiden" on the very small round box. The Snowmaiden enjoys beauty of Russian winter in the forest sitting on the stump. To create a sparkle of the snow the artist has enhanced the details with aluminum paint. Gold paint is used to decorate the edges of the lid, and the box's sides with foliage patterns.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Palekh, and the year of 2005.
