Sergey and Maria Gurilyev have teamed up as man and wife once again to create this blistering masterpiece. It is of exquisite beauty with a poetic structure that speaks more words than one can even find in a dictionary.
The box shows the date of a girl and a lad in a sunny winter afternoon. Aluminum and gold is used to define the detail in the scene. The detailing with the gold and aluminum is so fine that some of the lines are as fine as a hair and as small as a speck of dust.
A simple gold pattern frames the scene on the lid. Highly intricate and complex scrollwork wraps around the sides of the box painted using gold and aluminum paint.
The box is constructed out of high-quality paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box and red lacquer to paint the interior. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a four rounded feet. At the bottom of the scene the Gurilyevs wrote Palekh, 2006, and their name.
