Artist: Bogachova Nina
Size: 12x6.5x2.5
Size (inches): 4.75x2.5x1
Price : $495 SOLD!

This very detailed classical Palekh box is a creation of a Honored Artist of Russia, famous Master Nina Bogachova(born in 1941).
For this composition Nina has chosen Russian Folk ballade "Why are eagerly staring at the Road?" telling about undivided love of a young woman. On this composition we can see that woman that is not playing and dancing with village girls and lads (painted in the right side background), but staying on the road and waiting for the guy whom she loved... And on the left side we can see this guy passing her by in a carriage riding the three horses (troyka) and turning his body to her side.
The palette for this piece contains a wide spectrum of bright and vivid colors. Gold paint, applied with extreme precision, details almost every aspect of the composition. The edges of the lid are decorated with a simple pattern composed of gold beads. More complex gold rolling pattern can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box and red lacquer is used to paint the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title, Palekh and the year of 2011.
