Well-known Palekh Master and a teacher of Palekh Art school Vladimir Vlezko is the artist who painted this traditional scene. Here we see a couple racing through a field of summer flowers at a blistering pace while a driver encourages the horses. The pace that is being set by the driver looks like it will not be slowing any time soon.
The beautiful field flowers are decorated this summer landscape. The flowers are painted in red and green tones, while the troika and the human figures are painted in warm orange, red, green and white tones. Gold and aluminum paints are applied within the composition to add brightness and details. The application of metallic paints is very subtle yet yields great results!
The scene is framed with gold beads, while the box's sides are decorated with elegant gold ornamentation.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior and red lacquer is used to paint the interior of the box. The box has a hinge located above the composition and rests on a flat bottom. Vlezko has signed the box with his name, Palekh and the year of 2011 at the bottom of the composition in gold paint.
