This small, but detailed box has been painted by a talented artist Valentina Kruykova from the village of Palekh. The artist at this moment resides in town of Vladimir.
The composition shows the skating on an ice of a frozen pond or river not far from a village these people live.
This composition is painted with an aid of the traditional Palekh colors- reds, blues and black background; the addition of light blue, white and silver colors are the most suitable for depiction of a winter scene.
The composition is framed with a gold dots on the top and the sides of the box are decorated with gold and silver ornamentation.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior of the sides of the box and dark red lacquer covers the interior. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the name of the artist, school-Palekh and a year (2014) at the bottom of the composition.
