Talented artist Arapova Anastasia of Palekh painted this original composition. It shows an episode from One Thousand and One Nights tales or known in English version as Arabic Nights.
The brushwork is exquisite, which is enhanced by the hairline gold detailing the artist adds. This piece shows that geometrical, artistic, and technical exploitation, when in perfect harmony can yield tremendous results.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. Gold ornamentation frames the scene on the lid and wraps around the sides of the box.
The box has a hinge from the top of the composition and rests on wavy platform. The work is signed with the artist's name, village, and the year (2015) at the bottom of the composition.
