Description:

Well-known Irina Peskova from the village of Palekh is the artist who has painted this elegant oval brooch. The composition shows a scene from a Tale of Tsar Saltan and shows a moment when Tsar Saltan has reached an Island of Buyan. "Tale of Tsar Saltan" is a tale written by famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
By the tsar's order, Tsar Saltan's wife and his son, Prince Gvidon, were sealed in the barrel that afterward was thrown into the sea. The barrel landed to a mysterious island of Buyan. Getting out of the barrel Prince and his mother saw a magnificent palace where they would live later. Then Gvidon has save Princess Swan from an evil bird.
Prince Gvidon, his wife, and his mother meet the ship on the board of which Tsar Saltan is sailing. Tsar Saltan heard much about the mysterious and rich island ruled by Prince Gvidon and his young beautiful wife, and now he has come to know if this island is indeed so rich and beautiful.
The scene is masterfully painted in green, pink and cream tempera paints and richly detailed in gold. The edges of the brooch are decorated with a nice gold pattern. The brooch can be attached to your clothing with a pin.
The brooch is constructed from paper-mache. Its exterior is covered with black lacquer. The work is signed with the name of the artist, the village of Palekh, and the year of 2016.
