This magnificent box was painted by the talented artist Konovalova Valentina from the village of Palekh. Here she has chosen to depict a scene from the fairy tale, "The Snowmaiden" or "Snegurochka" in Russian.
The box shows the appearance of Snowmaiden to her parents, Old Man Winter and Fairy Spring.
Gold paint is used to detail the characters' costumes, snow-covered hills and trees in a forest. This is work is full very thin details!
