Description: This interesting composition painted by a talented Palekh artist Natalie Kornilova shows a dangerous trip that made by a young man. Snowstorm is in progress, but he must come St.Petersburg. We can see several hungry wolves following the troika (three horse sleigh) speeding through the Russian countryside. An image of Our Lord is painted over the troyka in the skies, like a guardian Angel. In the right upper corner we can see recognizible lines of city of St.Petersburg- Bronze Horseman and St.Peter and Paul Fortress.
The composition is full of dynamic motion: Snow is moved with a wind, wolves are rushing after the sleidge, the horses' harnesses, manes and tails are also tattered with a strong wind.
The artist has used very colorful paints, pallette is blue, gray, yellow and red. The composition is look bright, but the artist has used her outstanding skill to show us a night in this colors!
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged to the top of the composition, and the box rests on wavy legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Palekh.
