Talented artist Kuzmenko Galina from the village of Palekh has painted this scene with a winter troika (the three horses sleigh) speeding through the Russian countryside. A couple hides from the snowstorm in the sleidge.
Gold paint is used to detail the sledge, the characters' costumes and the horses' harnesses, manes and tails.This work is full of very thin details!
The scene is framed with a golden dots ornament.The box's sides are decorated with flower-like golden ornament with adds of aluminum paint.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged to the top of the composition, and the box rests flat.
The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Palekh in gold paint.
