This small plate has been painted by a talented Palekh artist, Ekateria Bykova.
The palte shows the traditional theme of a Russian winter troyka. The peasants sit in the sledge pulled by tree speeding slender steeds.
The troyka is painted in bright white and gray oils whereas the surrounding landscape is painted in bright paint that helps to reproduce a shimmer of the snow covered expanses.
The plate is constructed from paper-mache, and back side is covered with black lacquer. The work is signed with the artist's name , Palekh, and title.
