This adorable box was painted in the traditional style of Palekh lacquered miniature by talented artist, Suloeva Nina.
The box shows a warm summer day in a Russian village. Happy villagers are came out for a dance and sign the songs at the glade of the forest. Lad is playing on the harmonica and the girls are dancing. They all enjoy warmth of summer time!
The palette is full of greens and reds to represent the idea of a summer season. Suloeova paints the costumes of the peasants in bright reds and oranges to focus a viewer's attention of them. All minute details are enhanced with lustrous gold and silver paint.
The composition is painted on a lid and framed with simple gold pattern , the edges of the lid are covered with a beautiful ornament painted in gold. The decoration of the sides is marvelous, richly painted in gold and silver!
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top and the box rests flat.
The artist has signed the box with her name, Palekh and 2019.
