Andrey Petrov from the village of Palekh created this small round box. Painted in the original style it portrays the girl sitting on the bench in the blooming garden and feeding birds. The scene is very romantic and touching. The scene is framed with tiny gold beads. The rest space of the lid is decorated with intricate and detailed metallic gold and aluminum floral designs. Tiny gold and aluminum-winged flies supplement this original ornamentation. The small platform on which the box rests is framed with gold scrolls and aluminum dots. In the middle of this platform there is a very beautiful and elaborately painted floral pattern composed of gold scrolls and aluminum flowers. All these floral designs suit perfectly to the theme of the scene filled with multicolored flowers that grow in the garden.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer was used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged. Petrov signed and dated (2003) his work at bottom of the scene in gold paints.
