Description: Roman Chibisov is the author of this stunning box. It shows a scene from the Russian folk fairy-tale “The Ripe Apple and the Silver Saucer”. The beginning of the tale is similar to the beginning of the tale “The Scarlet Flower”. An old man has three daughters. The elder daughters like to wear rich, expensive dresses, and don't like to work. Their younger sister, Mashenka, is very shy and laborious. Once an old man goes to the market, and asks his daughters what presents they would like to get. The elder sisters ask for rich sarafans but Mashenka asks her father to bring her the ripe apple with the silver saucer. When the old man returns from the market, and brings presents, the elder sisters understand what a precious present their younger sister has got. The ripe apple rolls along the edges of the silver saucer, and at this moment the silver saucer shows various towns, forests, people, - everything that Mashenka wants to see. The envious sisters kill Mashenka because they like this magic thing so much. In the end of the tale the old man revives his beloved, younger daughter with the help of the Life Water, and Mashenka becomes the wife of a tsar.
The box is made in Chibisov's original painting style. A rich color palette is enlivened with a shining gold metal leaf inlay, and very fine gold countours.
