This luxuriant Palekh box was created by the talented Ye. Bonokina. On this box she has painted a loving couple riding the swing. Green and red tones of tempera paints predominate here. The artist has put a great concentration of detail into the costumes of the characters. Gold and aluminum paint gives the entire scene a fantastic glow.
The box is constucted out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box.The exterior is decorated with beautiful gold patterns. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Palekh and the year of 2008.
