Description: This interesting semi-antique box was painted by artist Deulin Vladimir Nikolaevich (1925-1994). Deulin was a Veteran of World War II and had medals.
The artist has been studied in Palekh Art School in 1947-1952.
The box shows a scene from a Flying Carpet tale.
Gold ornament decorates the edges of the lid. The sides of the box are adorned with beautiful gold floral ornamentation.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged at the top of the scene, and the box rests on the four legs. It is signed with the name of the artist, the village of Palekh, and a year.
The box is also sign inside the lid :
To Zakhar Lvovich (male name+middle name)
in a memory of our collaboration (team work)
from the collective (co-workers ) of Z.I.P.
(possible translation- Zavod Izmeritelnikh Priborov),
which means---measuring instruments factory!
