This semi-antique box was painted in 1967 by talented Palekh artist Vinogradova Alexandra Arcadievna. The artist was born in 1924. She has been studied on Palekh Art School in (1945-1950).
The box featured a scene from tale of Sadko.
Gold beads decorate the edges of the lid. The sides of the box are adorned with beautiful gold floral ornamentation.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged at the top of the scene, and the box rests on flat bottom. It is signed with the name of the artist, the village of Palekh, and a year.
