This attractive original (one-of-a-kind) composition is a creation of well-known Palekh Artist Marie Lebedeva.
Composition is showing a family and their guests playing the game hide-and-seek.On the right side of the composition we can see a table with a large birthday cake and water-melon. Grandma is calling all the visitors to come to the table, but they all are hidden from the odd man out. Kids and adults are everywhere-under the table, in the cabinet and on it, behind and after the book case...
The scene is framed with tiny gold beads, same ornament is decorated the edges of the lid. Complex gold leafy ornamentation decorate the box's sides. On the front side of the box we can see one more element with a hiding kid under the umbrella.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box is hinged from the top of the scene, and rests flat. The work is signed with the name of the artist, the village of Palekh, and the year of 2013.
